Muscle MLK Half Marathon diary

Today was the very fist Muscle MLK Half Marathon and 5K at Bronte Creek Provincial Park. It was a great day for a run at this beautiful park. The half marathoners did a couple of loops on the gravel road and path and were treated to Panago Pizza at the finish along with Muscle MLK and lots of other goodies—great Muscle MLK shirts, towels, and finishing medals to half marathoners. The winners and first in each age category received a pair of shoes from Pearl Izumi plus second received great clothing.

Over 100 came out to the half and 250 in the 5K. We raised over $5,000.00 for Breast Cancer Support Services. In the picture, our 78-year-old winner of his age category, and it was his birthday today. He received a pair of shoes, peonies from my garden (a bit thirsty) and a future ride on Thelma. Thanks everyone for coming out! Results are posted on speedrivertiming.com.

It was a great race, great atmosphere and for a great cause. Kelly does a phenomenal job with every one of her races and the care and attention to detail is not lost on those of us who are passionate about running. She is always present, very approachable if there is a problem, she attends to it quickly! She is passionate about what she does. I love the VR PRO series races and will continue to race in as many as possible.
